The Charlemont Inn is now over 200 years old and the guest list, over time, is bountiful. Benedict Arnold stayed here on his way to Ticonderoga. He had an honest night's rest. British General John Burgoyne stayed after his defeat at Saratoga. The general needed a little rest and recuperation. Mark Twain stayed and it's safe to say he said something. President Calvin Coolidge stayed and it's safe to say he said nothing. Maybe Washington slept here. It seems he slept almost everywhere!
The Charlemont Inn has been a welcome beacon for hundreds of thousands of travelers. Today, the scenic historic Mohawk Trail region attracts white water sports enthusiasts, skiers, hikers, bikers, and lovers of natural beauty.
